EasyJet - Force Majeure
Due to the forecast of adverse weather conditions my flight from London Gatwick 18/12/10 0650 to Berlin Schoenfeld was cancelled the day before by EasyJet.
I appreciate the ample amount of notice, which meant that I was not stood at the airport waiting, sat on a plane waiting to take off etc. For that EasyJet I thank you.
However, what does concern me that when the decision was made there was no snow, that evening there was still no snow, when the flight was due to leave still no snow. The snow did arrive well after the flight was due to leave.
I was checking the websites of both airports and apparently both were operating a near normal service.
My question is this, how can EasyJet claim force majeure (thereby dodging the EEC compensation legislation) as a reason to cancel when other airlines continued to operate?
Has anyone got any experience of this?
