Making preliminary plans for a visit to Egypt and Israel with family. I'd like to go overland.

Cairo to Sharm el Sheikh, I'm thinking, hired car, probably with driver. Should take about 9 hours I gather.

Sharm to Tel Aviv, how tough would that be? Hired car or rental to Taba (3 hours), cross into Eilat, then pick up a rental there for the drive to Tel Aviv (4 hours).

I suppose the biggest question is, at Taba. Is there provision for ending a car rental or car hire there, and from that point, what is involved in crossing the border on foot/by taxi? Thanks for any advice.
