The Sexualization of American Air Travel

Before November 1, metal detectors and wanding were annoying but ho-hum and pretty much gender-neutral. Now, with full body imaging and "enhanced" pat-downs, suddenly flying has become sexualized.

And I submit that, as with the American culture at large, women are disproportionately the target of that sexualization. Witness the FT threads on breast pat-down, menstruation, skirts... it's a voyeur's paradise--not only in the airports, but right here, on this board. Read the increasingly salacious posts from males if you doubt this.
