Delta won't be able to combine them. They will most likely add notes, but that doesn't do much in reality.

Your best bet would be to add on MCO-ATL legs. As long as they are the same tier as your award ticket, they will be included on the award (plus a small amount of taxes) and a $150 per ticket redposit fee, which is waived for Plats and Diamonds.
