Brian,
It would be an interesting article (if it is not too much of a secret), that perhaps Bill Owen could write, regarding how flight numbers are assigned.
The really low numbers (1 and 2 digits) seem to represent flights intra-Texas, although when I went through the Denver airport on Dec 3, I thought I saw flight #2 that was going from Denver to Hartford. However, at the moment, that does not seem to be in the schedule.
The lowest flight number into Denver at the moment is #59 from PHX. Obviously, that flight was not the 59th flight added to the flight schedule. So, how did that one get such a low flight number?
This is just a curiosity thing, but it could be interesting.
There was a thread on for another airline (United or Northwest maybe) where we noted that sometimes the number was related to the place, such as flight 777 into Vegas (like a 7-7-7 slot jackpot) or flight 1492 into Columbus. I haven't noted anything like that for SWA.
