I thought BA would have used the opportunity to fill up a 747 or a 777 for the short haul flights running today. Only a A319 going to Milan, and a A321 going to Nice.
I have thought of the same. cancel one flight to DXB and one to HKG so two long haul aircraft can be used on SH to ferry stranded people faster.
