That´s good news, so if I understand you correctly there´s sort of a transit area that only requires me to go through security (comparable to connecting Schengen/Non-Schengen in Europe except for the passport control)?

That doesn´t sound too convenient. So basically I arrive at SYD as if that were my final destination (collect baggage, go through immigration etc.), then go to departures and check-in for my TG flight.
Any particular reason NZ doesn´t through check? Is an immigration/customs issue or is just NZ refusing to do so?
Is there a fast track for immigration/customs and/or security?
I may check-in online for the TG flight, as I assume the deadline for dropping off luggage is slightly more generous than the3 deadline for checking in?
