AITs are still be deployed (introduced you may say). Since the training process doesn't start until the machines are on site, you may see machines sitting. Also if there aren't the full amount of personnel to run the machine it may not be operated. TSOs are still going through OJT (On the Job Training) which mandates a certain amount of time at each position observed by an assessor. At larger airports with a large workforce it can take some time.
That doesn't explain the need to reintroduce the machines at DFW, now does it?
