The Fruitcakes stayed at the Helka hotel in 2003. That summer was incredibly hot in Helsinki - it was the warmest place in Europe with temperatures at 37 degrees. This never happens in HEL but it chiose to when we were there!

The hotel was cheapish and cheerful but had no air conditioning (never needed) so was almost unbearably hot. However, other hotels seemed the same.

That trip was also the occasion of a fly around at HEL when the captain admitted he'd misjudged the approach (not having a good day he said). Honest and brave man!
