And I thought that I had it bad at the Westin Southfield-Detroit, where each week I got a lunch bag with one bottle of water, cheese crackers, pretzels and apple sauce -- if they even remembered to give it to me. I felt like I was at camp.
The best amenity I have received was at the Westin St. Francis, where I could choose from several items. I chose the fruit. Two tangelos arrived on a large tray, with a bottle of TyNant water, orange-flavored candies and a printed card describing the history of the tangelo. The presentation made it seem special.
I also enjoyed the chocolate-covered cherries at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.
I have never gotten upgraded to a suite as a SPG platinum, except at the Sheraton LAX. But I agree that I would much rather have the upgraded room.
