I had my first Sheraton stay about a week ago and stayed on the club level because it was only marginally more than the regular rooms. Even my company goes along with this thinking as it usually saves money on breakfast. The room was on the top floor which offered a great view of the Mississippi River. The extras were a bathrobe (I'm willing to pay for this amenity as I really like a robe), bottled water, and lots of bathroom amenities including toothpaste which I seldom see. But, I got really excited when I read in the hotel guide in the room that local calls were free on the club floor, but when I checked out (in a really big hurry), I had been charged for them ($1 each!!) and didn't have time to argue. I would definitely have made most of those calls on my cell phone if I'd known they weren't free. Now this would have been a very good reason to stay on the club floor if their information was accurate.

BTW, I am a Hilton Gold (not comped, but earned) who has completed my 16 stays already for requalification next year so I'm looking around. I may go back to Marriott for the rest of the year or maybe Starwood. Starwood was looking good as they comped me Gold (sorry), but I saw no benefit to Gold on this stay other than the extra points. All in all, though, it was a positive experience other than some housekeeping issues (a dirty washcloth in the shower from the last guest--Yuk!).
