So is it still possible to leave our luggage in the F section (we'll be on an F ticket, plus I'm OW Emerald) and get a pass to get us back through Arrivals so we can exit the airport?
I have the same transit coming up in January. Try this approach, -- check your luggage through to BKK so you don't have to deal with it in HKG. Then, when you arrive, use The Arrival for shower, etc. Once you get out into the arrivals hall, turn right. At the far end, you'll see a left luggage facility on your right. Leave your carry-ons there for the day and then head into town. On your return, collect your carry-ons from left luggage and go upstairs to check in.
