Did anyone here ever use them? I always considered them a back-up I could resort to if I ran out of status certificates. I never did quite run out, though, so I never had occasion to buy any. Clearly they were more restrictive than the UG certs associated with status, but they were better than nothing. Now they are gone too.
i too found these intriguing, but i must say i really find it hard to justify spending hundreds of dollars to upgrade to the north american J service, even tho most of what i fly are transcons...

similarly, in pondering the tango plus transcon flight pass, it is hard to justify the ~$500 price per segment, when the route I fly is routinely available for around $200 all-in per direction in the lowest T+ fare (thank you competition with Virgin America!), or for that matter the $369 LMUP.

as someone who flies on his own coin, i find it helpful to go through the thought experiment of "what else could $300 buy me"...hmmm fly in Y round trip and thats a dinner for two at the french laundry...either way....beats the heck out of "steak chasseur"...
