I forgot to mention that I also stayed at the Sheraton North or some such thing. It's in the middle of nowhere about 10 miles north of downtown. It reminded me of a hugh Holiday Inn built in the 60's. It's sort of a low brow resort hotel. I think it might have been one of the first Four Seasons Hotels before they moved on to more upscale things.
One other thing, Canada is the only country I know of that allows a refund of the National and Provincial sales tax on hotel rooms. Just send in the original hotel invoice with your claim and you can get all your VAT back. When my daughter was young, I would let her do the paper work and keep the money. She would get oh maybe $50 back. The combined VAT is quite substantial. No they won't give it back on food.
