Maybe there's a misunderstanding? It's not that our SFO-LHR and LGW-MLE flights are on separate tickets, it's that we each have our own separate SFO-MLE round trip ticket. (This is really my main cause for concern.)
So in that case, you will have the advantage of OLCI opening at T-34 or earlier, so you can beat the crowd. But that only works if there are pairs left at that point.
