- If someone offered UA compensation for the enhanced upgrade status, why would that annoy you? UDU guarantees nothing more than free leftovers, if available. If UA can, in some way, "sell" that seat (and that's what we're talking about here, a "sold" upgrade that only happens if the other person in the party also has upgraded), that doesn't seem to violate the spirit of UDU in my humble opinion.
- If UA did things correctly, you'd never know that you got passed over because a lower-ranking elite scored an upgrade-with-cash or upgrade-with-instrument or whatever. The screen would simply show the 1K and lower-ranking person adjacent to each other.
- I can relate to just missing the upgrade. I missed out on IAD-LHR. By one, just like you. LHR-ORD I missed out on by two, if I recall correctly. Hate that. Last chance to use those SWUs.
