Given that:
1) Properties such as the W South Beach are classified as resorts and
2) Properties with "Resort" in their name are not necessarily resorts....
I guess the takeaway FOR SPG CUSTOMERS is that we have to really block the SPG word "resort" out of our minds because it doesn't really line up with common sense.
So, if SPG classifies a property as a resort, in your mind don't think of the English word "resort." Substitute the word "widget" or "broomstick" or "coconut" in place of the SPG word resort...because it is really just a keyword for Starwood internal folks to use to define/classify a property.
It does not equate to the word in dictionary.com listed under "resort."
Right?
Over the years, we have had this debate countless times. The takeaway is what I say above. When SPG refers to a property as a resort, I am going to substitute the word "broomstick" in my mind.
