Four Points Midway/St. Paul

Just a short note to say this property is best avoided. I arrived there just under 2 months ago to find heavy renovations in progress- the dust/noise some days was unbearable. 11 days of hell. Up until very recently, this was a Sheraton Inn and served as the "Airport Howard Johnsons" in the film, "Drop Dead Gorgeous". Perhaps that's where the renovation money came from- it was certainly run like a Howard Johnsons!

To further add insult to injury, there seems to be no pattern regarding the "free" (is it or isn't it- depends who you spoke to) transportation to the Mall/airport/downtown and some of the staff- how can I put it- creepy. What should one's reaction be when you spot a restaurant worker learching behind a corrider and then run away like mad when you've seen them?

You also had to do battle with the local Minnesotans- on both weekends we were there- extended families would book out most of the rooms surrounding the indoor heavily clorinated pool and virtually take over the area. It was "interesting". As my wife said, just what trailer park did these people come from?

Then, at check-out, after I asked repeatedly if I could pay by check, they always agreed. When I presented it, it was declined because I wcould not produce a Minnesotan drivers licence. "But I just moved here" I pleaded to no avail. They would not call Citibank to verify the funds. Off to the ATM machine I went and returned with a fistfull of $20's which they didn't like.

Now, or course, I need not mention that my Starpoints were credited incorrectly and, having faxed the bill to customer service 7 business days ago (promised a response within 5) I'm still waiting.

Hope someone can cheer me up!
