I stayed there last month as part of my how-can-I-pass-up-a-cheap-fare-like-this-on-new-CO-flight-to-HKG-with-all-of-these-bonuses trip. Overall I enjoyed my stay there. I would guess the hotel was build about 15 years ago. The rooms, but especially the carpet, are showing a bit of wear. The rooms are large standard rectangles with very large terracotta tilled terraces with chaise and table + chairs. All rooms have a very large, very nice marble bathroom with separate shower. All rooms have a view of the water as the hotel is built into the side of a hill. Some face more of an inlet, so the rooms with an ocean view are better. The pool area is very nice and there is a golf course and tennis courts + a gym with sauna and steam. The hotel has two or three floors with the Heavenly Bed, so this is considered an upgrade. There are a number of restaurants, but I only ate the Sunday “afternoon tea” buffet, which was actually a full spread with all kinds of food – not bad. As platinum I was given a bowl of fruit as an amenity. They did book me into a room with a perfectly centered view over the pool.
Stay? Well, as always it depends on what you are looking for. The Hotel is isolated from the urban attractions of Macau, but there is a shuttle bus that runs throughout the day between the hotel and the Jetfoil pier with a stop in town by the Hotel Lisboa (a free service). The Old Portuguese core of Macau is an interesting place to explore, but most of the rest of Macau is inundated with horrendously ugly apartment blocks.
If you are specifically looking for a place to have a tropic beach holiday, I would advise against a stay. If you are in Hong Kong and are looking for a diversion for a day or two, then the Westin Macau is a nice little break.
