The opt-in is practiced when checking out at some properties (I was asked last Friday if I wanted to participate).

I agree this is a more polite way to do it. Most people, including myself, will say yes, but for people like Redhead, who'll get in trouble with their company expense controllers for making the donation, it may be easier to decline than having to spesifically request the charge to be taken off...

From their marketing it appears to be 100%. If it wasn't, false claims or failing to clarify this would lead them into legal problems in a lot of the countries they operate in...

It would be interesting to know how much money UNICEF gets from Starwood on a yearly basis.
