Sooo....had to go to Akron for a wedding this weekend. Looked on WebFlyer first (of course) to see if anyone had been. No one had, so I'm writing to tell about the Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls.
In short, very nice. Hotel was clean and modern. Very convenient to the interstate from the airport, but you couldn't tell it was convenient from the rooms (no noise, couldn't really see the highway). In fact, there was a wonderful gorge with a large stream running right behind the hotel. The hotel's restaurant looked out over this very peaceful and pretty setting.
We were upgraded to a 2 room (bedroom, living room) suite at check-in. I'm a Starwood Gold so it must not have been too busy on the Saturday night we stayed. Rooms were large and clean. The couch in the suite was made out of styrofoam masquerading as cement. The bed was comfy and the linens were in good shape.
The room had a very large desk with a printer /fax machine and a two line phone. Plenty of room to spread out and work and still be ableo to live with out having to step over your suitcase.
The only downside was the food. I'd never been to Akron before, but I'm not aware that it's a city that wins awards for culinary excellence. The food in this hotel was a sterling example of why. My guest ordered a caesar salad and was served romaine lettuce with a bottled caesar dressing poured over it. I had roast beef from the buffet and an omlette. The roast beef was tough and the omlette was runny.
In summary, if you're going to Akron, stay at the Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls. Work at the Sheraton Suites Akron/Cuyahoga Falls. Don't take your in-laws to eat there to try to impress them.
