There are only 3 hotels worth staying at in LED, The Grand hotel is the best, then the Sheraton Nevsky Palace and then the Astoria. I stayed there for 9 months a couple of years ago but was paying about us$200 per night. Have you booked in June? The dates around the whitenights festival are usually more expensive and the whole city seems to get booked up.
