KRR, like Mister Donut, is one of those chains that failed in the west and is trying its best to tackle Asia. The fact that they couldn't survive for 5 years in Shanghai arguably proves that they aren't up to that task either. However, when positioned against the usual fast food suspects and overpriced Chinese food (as in the case of PEK-T3), it wins my vote by a mile (too bad it's outside of security and I always seem to be in a rush when I'm catching flights there). Basically, y60 will fetch you half a chicken and 2 or 3 sides.

Subway I find is quite OK - Maccas / BK much same world over - but still it is better to eat before boarding as you know what you will be getting - or carry-on as you say - especially if in coach.
IMO, both McDs and BK are better in China than they are elsewhere whereas Subway is worse. I attribute the success of the former to devoted employees and stellar supply change and my dislike for the latter on lax franchise protocols that permit skimpy portions and product substitutions.

Please ALL readers do not think this is a racist comment - I believe this is fact - the Chinese will basically eat anything that is put in front of them - whilst I will turn my nose up at what is dished up to me in coach on a Chinese domestic flight the Chinese bods all around me will be hoeing into it like it is their last supper - so again my advice is eat before boarding.
I often attempt to eat that stuff too when I don't have time to make alternate arrangements.

Picture this:
-you've just spent a day in Wuhan touring factories that emit toxic fumes
-lunch was chalked full of delicacies like sea slug and pig brain, not to mention baijiu
-your client dropped you off at the airport 35 minutes before the last flight out of town
-airplane food becomes surprisingly tolerable in this scenario

If you want a really nice EXPENSIVE surprise at PEK T3 - go grab one scoop of Haagen Dazs ice cream to just after check in - RMB49 I think for 1 scoop - OMG prices in Chinese airports are rediculous.
While I admit that y49 for a scoop is off the charts, it's worth noting that Haagen Daz has been super expensive in China/HK for as long as I can remember (15+ years).
