I have only stayed at the Danieli in Feb. 6 weeks in the past 5 years. Never can get a room in the Gritti.

The Danieli is very fine, and very convienent. Major Vaporetti stops right out front. 3 concierges on duty, lovely rooms. The finest "world class hotel" I have ever stayed in. (never been to orient).

We stay in jr suites in the east bldng. Have never had a room in the "old" (center) building. Have never had a room on the Canal. The west (new) building has smaller rooms.

One cannot just walk up and get a canal room in the old building.

The E&R has just been redone, and is supposed to be very nice. Two of the properties are in Lido, which is not like Venice, at all.

Their is a hotel boat service to the airports. Find the Starwood booth in the airport and arrange to take the boat to your hotel.
