Pretty much every week I stay at The Nines in PDX, arriving around 12:30am and leaving the next day. Last week when I got there, they said that they were overbooked and sent me to another hotel, The "Deluxe", which I considered pretty subpar (superthin walls, trains going by, etc.).

Now I have been walked before from hotels, but never when I was such a regular! So I sent them an inquiry as to why they would walk an SPG Gold that has been there pretty much every week since December. Also I wanted to make sure I would get a stay since it was one of the 4 I needed in December to make SPG Plat.

The assistant to the manager emailed me back very quickly, scheduled a call, and apologized profusely. He flagged my record as a consistent late arrival that shouldn't be walked, and contacted SPG to ensure that I would be credited a stay and also gave me 10,000 SPG points.

I found the response to be extremely professional and am already booked to stay there 3 more times between now and early Jan. Thought it was worth mentioning as I had been on the fence about sticking with SPG next year and there are threads to that effect on this board.
