Welcome to American AAdvantage!

I'm glad you had a good agent spend time with you - sounds like you were treated like, er, Juan in a million. You will find out that agents vary, just as people in all services and airlines do, given that there is no Platinum desk, merely a Platinum number answered with higher priority than others speaking with the usual coterie of agents.

DO take some time to read over the FAQ and Wiki, and some of the dependent threads, to maximize your new involvement with American - for example, doing so will inform you about the Gold (and particularly relevant to you as you seem to fly a lot) Platinum Challenge, which will get you so much faster to status if you do not have status yet (though the implication is you are already Platinum, so maybe moot,) associated benefits and earning more miles (which many of us feel are more usable than the much-discussed "SkyPesos").

Since FT strongly recommends not resuscitating threads older than two years old unless there are "compelling reasons" and the old thread's information continues to be current, this OP has been spun off into its own new thread (though it could ultimately be merged into a suitable existing thread).
