15 more minutes elapsed and our agent comes on and says, "sorry, we can't find a plane for you, the flight is canceled"

So we head down to try and catch the 4:00PM flight, knowing that it was probably fully booked. We get to the gate where the 4 PM flight is to depart, and the agent at that desk is announcing the EXACT SAME STORY! They can't find a plane to take you to HOU, so you're cancelled too?

The weather in Houston today, you ask? 50+ degrees and clear. And these two flights were the only cancellations on the board today.

In all my years of flying, I can't recall having back to back flights canceled because the planes that were going to take us to our destination just mysteriously went missing.

Delta screwed the pooch today. The big pooch. Me.

Now I get to eat over $200 worth of football tickets. Too bad there are no repercussions for this nonsense. I will be taking my business and FF status elsewhere after today. Last straw.

Sorry to hear about your flight from ATL-HOU.

I guess my variation would be how Delta saved my A$$

For those who don’t want to hear about the Midwest storm delays, add this to your list of what you don’t want to see/read.

However here's my experience from past couple of days doing MSP-HOU and back (Sun and Mon).

Was scheduled MSP-ATL-HOU for 5PM Sunday, got to the gate and saw 2.5 hour delay which would have forced a misconnect in ATL to HOU. Gate agent said they could protect me next day which would have caused a trip in vain by missing morning meeting. I asked agent at F15 to rebook onto the delayed MSP-IAH and she said a) that there was no such flight and b) that I needed to go back to the service counters for any more help c) next passenger please...

Called DM line and told them the situation and they asked how fast can you be at G10 and since I was at G1 I said a matter of minutes. The DM person said go fast, they were sending a message to the gate, few minutes later at the gate the fantastic GA not only gets me on the flight, however gets me one of the F seats (Sorry if I bumped any of the DYKWIA off of the list ). Net result, went from what was about to be a trip in vain to making it to my destination 2.5-3 hours early. Why didn’t I do the MSP-IAH originally, HOU was close to where I needed to be and price.

Not to be out done, get an urgent email and call from DL yesterday Mon afternoon while wrapping up my meeting before heading to HOU for return trip. My 5ish HOU-ATL flight was canceled perhaps tied to OPs situation. DL had automatically rebooked me for a return this morning which would have again resulted in a missed meeting however called the DM line again. Told them the situation and the quickly rebooked me on the 5:50PM DL flight from IAH-HOU. Once at IAH, all the check in kiosks were down to computer problems however no sooner did I get the kiosk error message a GA told me to step up to counter and he would help. Wow, I thought the second GA in MSP at G10 Sunday evening was good, the guy in IAH was even better however I had given out my last "Nice Job" certificate on Sunday. Not only made it onto the IAH-MSP flight which went out about 45 min late, was upgraded, great service by the lead FA and made it home 2.5 hours early.

Why did I post all of this and what does it have to do with the storms, simple, it’s easy to complain/discuss/mention when things go bad and how storms or irops cause us to be inconvenienced. However it’s also fun now and then to give an atta boy or atta girl/gal to those who either do their job in a professional manner during adverse conditions, or that actually rise above and do more than expected even if you have set the bar for service standards low.

Ok, now back your regular scheduled programming or whatever.
