All the more reason for the crew to keep the PAX informed of the cause(s) and anticipated duration of the delays... which apparently did not happen.
Bad weather is no reason to abandon competence and consideration on the part of the airline.
Too many people in this forum have bought into the "all we owe your is transport from Point A to Point B" mantra.
Amen to that! Communication to PAX is key and courteous.
