Actually, I have never had any issue with CA meals - on PEK-HKG you should get a hot meal - main course, salad, something sweet, a roll, butter. They also serve hot and cold drinks (including complimentary beer). I think PEK-HKG flights are still operated with Air Macau A321 so there should be some IFE available (headsets are for free).
PS. PEK-HKG is not really a domestic flight
