AMEX Membership Rewards - Canada vs US

I find flyertalk a very useful website and appreciate all that I have learnt here.

I have about 400,000 membership rewards points with a US-based AMEX card. I will be moving to Canada early next year and am trying to evaluate my options. It looks like I can move my points to a Canadian Membership Rewards account but their redemption levels are not as favorable as a US account and my points will be worth less when I transfer to some of the airlines. For example 1000 canadian MR points are worth 750 Delta skymiles.

I am considering transferring all 400,000 points to Delta using the current 50% bonus that is being offered. I already have a lot of delta skymiles from flying. Is moving the points now a smart idea or should I wait and move them to an aeroplan account next year or when I need them?

I am planning to use the miles for a couple of international trips for the family.

Thanks
