DL BE isn't bad. The seats are the same as VX F.
The big issue with the JFK-LAX/SFO flights is upgrades are battlefield only. Unless you're a Plat or Diamond, your chances are very slim and even as a Plat, there is a good chance you'll miss it since there are only 16 seats. While UA has 32 seats in C and the ability to confirm the upgrade ahead of time is worth a lot.
