I am interested in the same issue --- not for an immediate trip but combining my AA and BA miles for lifetime AA premier status. Is anyone aware whether the recent partnership agreement will permit this merger of miles into one's AA account on a one to one basis? If so is there any major disadvantage of having only AA miles versus both AA and BA miles?
I just saw the post above mentioning the "combining" of AA and BA programs, but that's the first and only mention of that I've seen, and I seriously doubt that's coming. In fact, the poster mentioned October, which was when there were actually many changes, but nothing like a combination of the programs.
I don't expect this to happen at all, so I wouldn't wait for it.
