Let's see: one the one hand, I see a bold Qantas logo in front of a lounge and think access should be fine; on the other, I have to dig via computer to find small print in some T&Cs that calls this an associated lounge and says that access is permitted only within two hours of departure of a QF flight.
I think my expectation that I would be able to use my QF card was a natural one. I have never argued that the T&Cs which you identified are incorrect and that your explanation is not accurate.
My primary purpose was to compare the two lounges; on the other hand, I suspect based on my experience, that most QF card holders on QF flights from PVG would are entitled to use the QF "associated lounge" would prefer to use the CX/KA lounge, which is a true OW lounge and to which they should have access.
The QF logo on the lounge is a bit like the Amex, Visa or Mastercard logo on the front of a shop. The card is excepted at the shop (according to the T&Cs in place at the time), however the shop is not an actual Amex, MC or Visa shop. Hopefully you get the point I am trying to make, especially since QF lounges do have a fairly distinctive look and feel about them.
I suspect if you were ever a QP member in the past, the need to look the lounge up in the directory would have been more natural. I was a QP member some 9-10 years ago, so remember the pain of looking things up so I could be assured of the access rights I had.
