Did status impact my spend: yes, as my 1K status pushed me to United and *A partners
Did no DEQM impact my spend: yes, I am at 75k miles, and 25k is too far to do with a mileage run given my work schedule. If I had DEQM, I would have purchased at least two more tickets and spent roughly another 1k-1.5k to do it.

Also, the lack of information about the Million Miles program is also affecting my spend. Since I'm based outside the U.S. at this point, I do not have many options to fly United. I'm currently sitting at 750k miles, so 1MM isn't too far off. However, if it is only going to get me *A Silver ala Continental, then I'll change to another alliance since *Silver is practically useless. If it remains *A Gold, then I'll continue to fly United and book incremental tickets to get there. There is no point in booking the incremental tickets now since I won't be grandfathered in (not already 1MM) and I don't know what is going to happen.
