You seem mystified that airlines allow their employees into the place of business before the customers, but this is the norm for all businesses (even on, say, Black Friday when customers are lined up around the block; I'm sure the Toys R Us cashiers get to jump the queue )

Every time I watch flight and cabin crews having to work their way through the lines and jump the queues I feel relieved I never had to start my working day like that. Add on to that the procedures the flight crew have to follow just to go to the lav during the flight makes me think that the old timers have real reasons to miss the "good old days."
