The fact that it was a Priority Pass lounge was a big hint that it isn't a QF-operated lounge, and that it won't be particularly nice. Really only 2 QF lounges are exceptional (SYD and MEL F lounge), LAX and LHR and SIN are not bad, and the domestic lounges are good for what they are. But otherwise pretty dismal (e.g. FRA) and not changing much in the past decade.
