If you really enjoy the flight experience, I find that having the extra stop, change of crew, second take off, etc. helps to maximize the whole experience. Plus, I really enjoy the JFK to YVR flight...have the supper (which is NOT a light meal, btw...very substantial. Just did it in October and it was one of the best airline meals I've ever had.), watch some movies....enjoy the stop in YVR, hang out on the plane and then have round 2 with caviar....and then rack out hard for the long flight to HKG.
Breaks up the long flight and maximizes the experience.
That was my original thought as well. But in the end, I chose the nonstop. I realized it gives me time to return home after work, instead of leaving from the office. Plan is to give instructions that I be awakened at hour 7 with champagne and caviar. Then the party begins.
