Even the half-hour hop to LCA gets you a small cold meal, snacks, drinks, all served on fine china and graciously served. More substantial than what you get for the Extended Crapfast on a 3 hour BA flight to HEL.
There is a substantial price difference between the cheapest short/long hop on BA in J and the cheapest short/long hop on RJ in J so I guess that may account for the difference in on-board experience.
As with many (most?) other carriers, and unlike BA and MA, RJ doesn't devalue the J product by offering J fares that are often cheaper than their mid-range prices in whY for the same flight.
