No breaking of promises. If you read the rules, DL covers itself. One example, "Upgrades...may not be available on all flights or in all markets..." That is a pretty wide blanket of exceptions that they cover.

Thank you, but that's not a definitive statement.
Time running out? How many more seconds does it take to book by segment and break up the ATL-DTW-HKG flights? Sorry, you obviously knew the rules when you booked. Does delta.com really show you as "eligible for upgrade" as you said? I would be surprised. My guess is you
might get a gate UG if lucky. But I don't think you are "eligible for upgrade" per the way Delta handles UG's on through-flights with change of equipment.[/QUOTE]
I did not know it was stopping in DTW. WHen I booked the trip, on the phone, I thought it was a non-stop from ATL-HKG. I agree one has to be watchful. One agent had booked me through JFK, based on my outbound and inbound dates with an overnight at JFK. Agents make mistakes and people do too. If the goal of the upgrade system is to reward frequent flying elites, denying them upgrade on a "direct" flight is clearly contrary to that goal. Now I know your opininion is different from mine. Let's leave it at that. There is no need for you to be judgmental.
Please stop being condescending. Please stop second gusssing. What are you, FBI, or some super secret agency that you know exactly what the situation was? Do you follow me or stalk me that closely?
I wqas not lucky. The gate agent simply refused to even put me on the upgrade standby list.
Silly? Maybe, but they set the rules.[/
Of course it's sily. And, yes they do. Why would you think otherwise?
Denied an upgrade? How about you deny yourself an upgrade. That is the reality. Sorry I might sound harsh, but if you don't play by their rules, you really can't complain, especially when you know the rules.
Yes, it's harsh and it is silly, as well as unnecessarily condesecnding. Since you like to nitpick, how about missing a chance of an upgrade? Would that make you happy? Listen man, I am not on a crusade against Delta, nor should you be on a crusade against my complaint. Just relax.
