Yep, NZ charge a booking fee for anything done through the call centre, or at their retail locations and (I think) at airport ticket desks.
Pretty much every UK travel agent books the Great Escapade, and many book the NZ rtw fares... perhaps track down a UK agent that doesn't charge booking fees?
