I'm impressed with the reponses to this thread – especially from Starwood Corp.

I do stand by my original posting. I have stayed at over 15 starwood properties in the last year ( small markets and large ) and never I have stayed in such a run down and in my opinion, poorly managed Sheraton property. Ironically the day after my Billing experience I stayed a the Sheraton in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and was very satisfied with the property and the staff. Small market should - and - does not mean lower expectations.

I’m not sure I like the tone that we should somehow cut a property slack because it’s in a remote location. The staff in Billings have the same ability to put on a uniform, be courteous, clean and well trained as the people in larger market. The manager in Billings has the same opportunity to direct his/her facility to be clean, and services meet high standards. The owner(s) of the property in Billings have the same opportunity to reinvest in room renovations and insure the overall property meets similar Sheraton standards. This isn’t about location – it is about complacency.

The Starwood ‘ brand ‘ represents a level of service to business travelers ‘ second to none ‘ and my posting reflected the disappointment in one of its properties.
