As you said, it's because that is one of the many items hawked by the bazillion of drive-by Spammers we trap every day of the year. 99.9% of those posts and threads never see the light of day thanks to increasingly sophisticated software programs.
Still, you'd be surprised (well, not you, Cholula; "you" in the collective sense) how sophisticated some spam rings have gotten. Many of the innocuous posts around FT are part of a vast conspiracy.

The hallmark of spam rings are a rapid succession of innocent-looking substance-free posts. None of you fits that description, right?
