I used 2 black fabric pouches that're taken out of an Ikea messenger bag, used to hold CD/DVD cases for things like LED flashlight, travel chargers, outlet adapters and digital camera, etc. for extra padding protection. 2 or 3 zip-lock quart sized bag usually handle the rest like network cables, wiring, audio/visual patch cords, usb cables, assorted Sim cards for mobile phones, mini-plastic cases for those memory cards, electrical and duct tapes, and, a small plastic container to hold AA and AAA batteries (originally used for Q-Tips)

Mini-screwdrivers, Swiss-Army multi-tool and small locking hemostat tweeter (used to hold/clamp a variety of tiny objects) go into another ziplock bag together with the safety pins, sewing kit, that usually go with the checked luggage especially when flying domestic. Otherwise, it stays with the rest in the backpack when it's a ground trip.

When flying international/oversea where there's strict limits on carry-on/cabin items, these go into a folding canvas tote with the laptop & power adapter, leaving me with quite a few extra pounds for other items like the Rx/meds pouch.
