You can certainly donate your miles to anyone you like, charity or otherwise, if you are willing to play travel agent for them and you're willing to take care of any taxes/fees associated with the award ticket(s).

Giving it to the charity would be permitted. That is, you could give it to the charity for it's travel. The charity giving it away, in exchange for something of value, would not be premitted. In reality, since you keep the miles until you get the other person an award, you are effectively bartering. That is, instead of you giving the charity money, someone else is giving money to the charity in exchange for the award.
Whether AA does anything about it is another issue. I am not saying doing this is a bad moral thing, just that it appears to violate the rules. The end result of this actions is the award is still getting exchanged for money.
