This is an absolute cop out spouted by people who either: (a.) have no knowledge of the basic premises of secuirty, (b.) work for TSA and have been brainwashed, (c.) work for TSA and are afraid of losing their jobs, (d.) work for TSA and enjoy harassing and humiliating people, (e.) believe whatever is reported by a person or group in "authority" or (f.) all of the above.
A brief story:
I was driving across the DFW metroplex sometime around 2004 or so. It was post 9/11; Bush was president and whatnot. I was listening to the local country radio station and they had a program where they would tell people to call in and take 20 seconds or so to spout off about something that really ticks them off. It could be political, something that happened to them that day, etc... You have probably heard this on various radio stations around the country from time to time.
I will never forget my astonishment when I heard a woman with a very thick Texas accent call in and say something along the lines of this:
"Ah am just sick and tahred of all these folks sayin' all this disrespectful stuff about President Bush. This man is the president of our country and Ah cannot BEAR to hear people sayin these things. Ah don't really care if yall agree with him or not, as an American citizen it is yalls duty to support yalls president no matter WHAT!"
I was this close to calling the radio station and asking if they could find out if this woman ever studied a period in time called, um, The Third Reich??! I promptly changed the station, brooded about such ignorance and idiocy, but never ever forgot that woman's statement. I can guarantee you she is out there on a pro-TSA site right now, ranting about how these people are our leaders and we must respect what they say no matter WHAT!
