My question is not as illogical, as it sounds. I am asking for the Canadian frequent flyer public's experiences - with regards to this question. This is a pseudosurvey - what are you experiences with accessing Canadian news in this manner (outside the internet). If the answer is zero, I would appreciate the answer.
I have travelled enough times, to USA, and around the world - and I marvel and how much more information I can get about US news outside of US, or British news outside of the UK - through 1 or more of these formats.
You could argue that Canada is a small country, with a limited amount of resources, and therefore one should not expect much Canadian news abroad, outside the internet.
Some of my own experiences:
1. Canadian TV channels are available in some hotels in Bahamas, Bermuda, Jamaica. I am not aware of any other Caribbean countries' hotels offering this service. I am not aware of any other countries (outside of Canada, and the border cities of USA) offering these channels.
2. I have accessed Newsworld International, at a time share resort (Westgate resorts) in Orlando. It was not available in a Disney resort. Newsworld International (a susidiary of Newsworld) carries Canadian, UK, and other international news, including same day coverage of the National, and believe it or not, a same day coverage of a English dubbed version of RDI's daily news.
I would like to know at which other hotels/resorts has the audience found Newsworld International available, in USA, or abroad?
3. Tens years ago, I was able to find outdoor newspaper dispensers in (downtown - near tourist locations) Washington DC with the Globe and Mail. I have not found them recently.
A few years ago, some of the Honolulu (Waikiki) hotels carried the Vancouver Sun, from the previous day.
One can find foreign newspapers, including some Canadian newspapers, at Borders, or Barnes and Noble (US equivalents to Chapters), or in metropolitan or University libraries - however, in most of these cases, the newspapers arrive there on a very delayed basis.
What I am trying to compare is that one can find, US or UK newspapers abroad, or even UK newspapers in USA, at newstands targeted towards tourists, more easily than Canadian newspapers at these locations.
4. I used to, in years past, see regional newspapers in Florida, directed towards Canadian snowbirds - I have not seen them recently.
5. I have a few years back, in Florida, and at the CAA offices here, had a list of Canadian newsprograms, on various Florida/Arizona radio stations, including times and dates, and frequencies of those stations. I have not seen this list, recently.
