Question for the Lounge: as I'm someone who consistently books low-level awards, how many SkyMiles would you keep in your account? I've been holding at 500k but am re-thinking my approach.
I always tried to keep enough for one emergency trip for the 2 of us -- given that such a trip would be domestic, that meant 2x50K miles. Now that you might have to take Delta's infamous 3rd tier into account, that would mean 2x60K or 2x65K today.
Beyond that, we've never held onto them if there's somewhere we want to go. Miles in the bank (esp. Delta's bank) only depreciate.
