I'm a little reticent to bring this thread back to life ..... but in the interests of providing potential pointers to FT'ers on this essential topic ..............
I've just drunk a bottle of Bredon Champagne ...... and it probably proves beyone doubt that I have no taste in these things. It's really fresh and un-yeasty and we've really enjoyed it. It's neutral and undemanding. It's a summer champagne if you know what I mean .... and having been snowed in for over a week it made us smile. It's been produced for Waitrose by Piper & Charles Heidsieck. Some reviews have been sniffy about it ... or grudgingly positive. Pompous twits. But it's right up my street and replaced Deutz as our favourite. But what makes it extra special is that it's currently on offer frrom Waitrose at £13:00 per bottle (75cl not 37.5cl!) and therefore with Ocado as well.
Might be worth trying a bottle pronto and then getting a quantity if you share my admiration for it before the stock runs dry. A caveat is that this is for drinking fresh now rather than keeping more than a year or so.
I know that having posted this my next order will inevitably run out of stock ......
