Century Plaza under renovation. Should they advise the guest in advance?
I booked a free Saturday at the Westin Century Plaza. I pulled up in front at 9:00 P.M. The entire front of the stucture was being renovated. The entry way was dark. Two construction lights illuminated a make shift lobby entrance. A doorman was nowhere to be seen. The parking attendants were confused. Cars everywhere. The "lobby" was the front desk and a passageway to the elevators. I decided not to stay and drove back home to Santa Barbara.
A first class hotel chain owes it to their customers to advise of ongoing renovations and let the customers make an informed decision.
Even though I booked a free night, I don't think I would have been advised if I had been paying. I don't blame the platinum concierge, as I do not think they had that information.
Obviously the hotel did not want to lose bookings.
Sorry Starwood. You blew it.
