The worse that can happen is that they say "No" due to the expiration dates and you end up going directly to your gate. Letting it slide doesn't cost Delta a lot (unless you intend to drink like Mel Gibson before a phone rant or traffic stop) and ends up earning some good will.
Good news is that you're traveling in Dec and they may be flexible to minimize the chances of getting a lump of coal in their stocking.
